Make Sure you're safe online

Netsafe

Social networking sites like www.myspace.com and www.bebo.com can be fun to use as well as an effective way for young people to link up with friends and people who have similar interests. As with many online environments, there are some risks involved in interacting with others and putting personal information online. Such risks can include cyberbullying, exposure to anti-social or illegal material, and being targeted by sex offenders or others who may wish to cause harm.

Keep yourself safe and check it out....

STUDENT EMAIL

ICT has implemented an email system for all students. The system is internal to the College; users can only send and receive emails from other College email users, including staff.

To access the application, students will need to use the Novell application labelled "Student Email", or use the Student Email link from the College Home Page.

Their logins are their usual internet/login id's - eg abelcl, without the dot 06, dot 09 etc.

Their password is their printer PIN.

To send email to other students, they just need to use the student's login; to send email to staff, they will need to use the format "jtopp@newlands.school.nz". Staff email addresses are of the format initialsurname@newlands.school.nz, with no space between the surname and initial.

Students should note that all emails can be monitored, and any inappropriate use of the student email facility will lead to sanctions.

Any issues please see Mr Wilde or Mr Milmine.
